In 1988, Karen Sands founded the Future Works Institute, Ltd. as a futuring resource and a coaching and educational forum. The Institute's mission is to work with those who imagine a greater future to effect conscious changes in their lives so they in turn transform their world. Future Works is committed to reclaiming our future by creating an ongoing conversation that matters. It is our goal to uplift those whose mission it is to uplift others. Together we co-create positive futures and meet the greatness challenge of our times.

Future Works’ specific areas of focus are:

1. to move clients from great to greatness
2. to respond to the needs and concerns of midlifers by raising awareness, providing the latest information, and asking the difficult questions about the impact of the "Graying of America" on our future and the future of generations to come
3. to bring the study of the future and futuring into the mainstream and to provide the public with cutting edge education, information and resources to get ready for the future
4. to shake up the status quo, inspire action and foster conscious evolution for people who want to create personal and collective transformation today for greater tomorrows.
